Arts College and Career Counselor
I received of BA in theater and a minor in film from USC. When I was applying to colleges, i had no one to turn to help me select the right art program for me. My high school counselor was overloaded with students and had little respect for the arts as a career path. Lists of the top 10 film schools or acting schools didn’t provide any nuances about the program. Is the program hands on or theoretical? Will I get to design/have my film produced as an undergraduate? Will I be employable when I graduate?
My goal is to help students wanting to study the arts make the best decision for them.
What are my credentials? I’ve freelanced for the last 10 years and earned my living working in theater and film for the last 7 years. I’ve given advice to students at my former high school about working as a professional artist. I’m currently writing a book about my time working as a lighting designer in theater.
Goals? I want to help your student make the best decision for them by talking to someone who’s been through the process and help them understand what types of jobs you can have with an arts degree.
